With the growing popularity of electric vehicles (EVs) in England, having a dedicated charger at home not only provides convenience but also ensures that your vehicle is always ready for use. If connected to a solar and battery storage system, you can even re-charge your car with free, surplus energy over night. The installation process involves several key considerations, from selecting the right type of charger to ensuring a proper, certified, and safe installation.

The first step is to contact EV Solar for a free consultation. We will ask a few simple questions about the car, the parking situation, where you want the charger to be located and your energy supplier. We may request some photos of the proposed parking space; where you want the charger installed; and a photo of the meter cupboard, fuse board, and proposed cable route.

You then need to choose your EV chagrin unit. Again, we can consult you on which is the best unit for your setup. We have no ties to any specific manufacturer so or advice is always impartial and on your side. Browse the chargers on our EV charger products page for some important information about the units we offer and prices for installation.

Our standard installation comes with your choice of charger unit, a 10 metre cable run and surface trunking (protecting and tidying the cable). It assumes your existing consumer unit is suitable and has space available to install an RCBO for the new circuit (we will establish if this is the case before coming out).

Once complete you will receive an electrical installation certificate and building regulations compliance certificate. We also notify building control and the local distribution network operator on your behalf.
